ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF LIVING IN a detached house
Living in a detached house gives you privacy but all repairs in the house should be made by the owner, you need more time to clean the house. To my mind those people, who prefer to live in a cottage adore nature: they want to wake up to songs of birds, to enjoy beautiful landscapes, to breathe fresh air or in other words they want to have a calm and measured rhythm of life. Usually such people keep the poultry and the cattle. One of the advantages of living in such a house is that you have your own land where you can grow fruit and vegetables, make flowerbeds and plant beautiful flowers, lay out an orchard['ɔːʧəd] фруктовый сад, etc.
But the greatest disadvantage of living in a cottage, in my opinion, is that it takes much time to get to the nearest town, but if you have a car it isn’t a problem for you. That’s why I think living in a cottage is the best option for farmers and retired people..

in the country or in the city?
Speak about life in the city and life in the country. It’s common knowledge that tastes differ. Nowadays there are alot of people who prefer to live in big cities and at the same time there others, who dream of living in the country. It goes without saying that life in a big city has a lot disadvantages.
Life in a big city is much more stressful and expensive than that in the country or in a small town.
There are too many people living together in one city, and the streets are crowded. It also takes people a lot of time to get to work by metro, as the are long distances between the stations. In big cities drivers suffer from traffic jams, accidents and car crashes.
But whatever the disadvantages are, I’m charmed with the speed of city life and great possibilities it gives. Living in a big city gives you a lot of advantages nowadays. Firstly, life in big cities is more anonymous.
Secondly, there is so much going on in the city. There are a lot of theatres, cinemas, museums, art galleries, libraries to visit.
Big cities are beautiful. They look modern with their tall buildings, interesting architecture and design.
I’d rather quote Samuel Johnson’s words, who said, “When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life.” To my mind it is true. If you are tired of fun, pleasure, comfort and excitement a big city offers you, you are tired of life.

Where would you like to live: in a city or in the country?
Tastes differ. A lot of people prefer living in the country. Fresh air, privacy, less pollution and noise attract them greatly. Furthermore, life in the country is slower so people there have time for each other. As a result, they are friendlier and more open.
But nowadays young people prefer living in big cities. They look modern with their tall buildings, interesting architecture and design. It goes without saying that life in a big city has a lot of disadvantages. Life there is much more stressful and expensive than in the country. It takes people a lot of time to get to work.
But living in a big city has a lot of advantages. There are more opportunities for employment. People have a lot of places to go out.
I live in a small town. It’s modern and nice. I love it because it’s the place where I was born and where my parents and friends live. But I’m charmed with the speed of big city life and great possibilities it gives.

7 REASONS WHY YOU’LL ACTUALLY BE HAPPIER IN A SMALLER HOUSE:
- More Energy Efficient. Smaller homes are often more energy efficient because they have less space to heat and cool, which means they have a lower ecological footprint.
- Less Cleaning and Maintenance Required. Fewer rooms means less time spent on cleaning and home maintaince. This has been a huge perk for my family, since it means we spend more time outdoors, doing things we love.
- Help to encourage family togetherness. In the evenings, we all are in the living room together since there is no where else to hide (other than bedrooms). It’s easier to keep an eye on the kids, and I can easily hear them playing (or yelling), no matter where they are in the house.
- Cozy and Intimate. Unlike the often gigantic rooms of a McMansion, small homes have small rooms. This gives each room, as well as the entire house, a feeling of coziness and intimacy that larger homes lack.
- Less Expensive and more budget-friendly. Smaller homes are less expensive to live in. Small spaces are cheaper to heat and cool, and usually have smaller electric bills as well.
- More Unique. We also chose a smaller home because we didn’t like the feel of the neighborhoods containing bigger homes.
- Wider market to sell. By its very definition, a smaller, more affordable house is affordable to a larger percentage of the population than a more expensive, less affordable one.
REASONS TO MOVE OUT TO THE COUNTRY...
- There's space – for you, for your dog, for your kids, between you and your annoying neighbors.
- You don't get suspicious when people are nice to you. People say hello and "how are you" and generally mean it. You go to the grocery store and have a decent chance of seeing at least someone you know.
- It teaches you tolerance. The world is a diverse place – and in the city, you learn that fast.
- Less garbage.
- Well water. You have your own well which provides water to the house. You drink well water enjoying it cause it tastes far cleaner and better than tap water in the city.
